My Story

Joslin Rhodes is hosting a Coffee Morning on 24th September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

It's part of JR Cares, our programme for giving back to our clients, colleagues and community. On the 24th of September, we're putting that support behind Macmillan.

Macmillan relies on voluntary donations for 98% of its funding. With your help, they can keep delivering the support people living with cancer need — whoever they are, wherever they are.

Right now, more than 3.5 million people are living with cancer in the UK. That number's rising. Someone is diagnosed every 75 seconds.

Macmillan does whatever it takes to make sure people get the best care possible. They work with partners to support people at every stage of their cancer journey. That includes the Macmillan Support Line, their cancer information booklets, the Online Community, and Macmillan professionals on the ground.

Every pound raised at our coffee morning goes towards this.

£189 could help run our Online Community forum for 7 hours. In this time, 392 people affected by cancer in the UK can read and share experiences and support each other on anything to do with cancer.

Around £250 could support the offer of a personalised eHNA assessment and care plan for 50 people with cancer.

£294 could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 1 day, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical, and emotional support.

£325 could cover the costs of room hire for a year and refreshments for a cancer support group to provide peer-to-peer support within a community setting rather than at a hospital, helping reduce travel costs for people with cancer in the local area.

£500 could pay for a Macmillan Professional to attend an advanced course in pain and symptom control. This would help the professional provide better advice to people with cancer on symptom management and dealing with the pain caused by treatment
