My Story

We are hosting a local Community Fundraising event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan is 98% funded by voluntary donations and with your help they can deliver the vital support people living with cancer need – whoever and wherever they are.

There are currently more than 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this number is rising, with someone diagnosed every 75 seconds. But Macmillan is doing whatever it to takes to ensure that everyone gets the best care available.

They work with partners to provide services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and secure. Once you donate, your money will be sent directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Every £103 we spend on our Macmillan Support Line could lead to our Welfare Rights Team helping people affected by cancer find out about £3,000 in benefits they could be entitled to.

£189 could help run our Online Community forum for 7 hours. In this time, 392 people affected by cancer in the UK can read and share experiences and support each other on anything to do with cancer.

Around £250 could support the offer of a personalised eHNA assessment and care plan for 50 people with cancer.

£294 could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 1 day, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical, and emotional support.

£325 could cover the costs of room hire for a year and refreshments for a cancer support group to provide peer-to-peer support within a community setting rather than at a hospital, helping reduce travel costs for people with cancer in the local area.

£500 could pay for a Macmillan Professional to attend an advanced course in pain and symptom control. This would help the professional provide better advice to people with cancer on symptom management and dealing with the pain caused by treatment
